75 Maharashtra schools get affiliation from Maharashtra International Education Board

In January 2018, the Maharashtra government had made an announcement of introducing Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) that will not be the same like the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE).

Now, 75 Maharashtra schools recently have received the affiliation from MIEB. These schools will be beginning the international education curriculum starting from this June 2019-20 session. Besides, 13 schools of the state’s zila parishad have already received the affiliation to MIEB. A few other schools have paid a visit to them in order to evaluate the new international education curriculum.

On the other hand, 72 of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Schools which previously sent an application to receive the affiliation from MIEB still haven’t got the approval from the education official of BMC.

Meanwhile, there was only a single education board operating in Maharashtra, which conducted examinations and had the Maharashtra educational system under it entirely.

State Education Minister, Vinod Tawde previously stated that initially there would be just 100 international schools would be imparting international education. All of these will be the current government schools that will have affiliation to MIEB. The international board shall have the authority to make any decision associated to these international schools.

Notably, the state already has international boards like Indian General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate (IB). But now, this is the first time that Maharashtra will have its very own international schools.
