Carlos Mendoza, the US District Judge has sentenced Deepak Deshpande, a man of Indian origin residing in California, US who pleaded guilty last October.
Deshpande, 41 has been sentenced to life in prison on Thursday on charges of luring a minor girl to forcibly engage in sexual activities and thirty years of imprisonment for producing child pornography.
As per the court documents as well as evidence that were introduced during the hearing, Deshpande got in touch with the minor girl in Orlando via an online application in the year 2017. At the time, Deshpande presented himself as a modelling agent to the minor and then persuaded her to send nude pictures of her to him. After a few months, Deshpande got in touch with the same minor girl again, posing himself as 2 other individuals. He threatened the minor that he would release her nude pictures if she failed to continue developing more of child pornography.
The same year, Deshpande journeyed from California to Orlando in order to meet her one-on-one for first time. He bought the minor to one of the local hotels in California and then filmed a video in which he sexually assaulted her several times. He continued to repeat the same act multiple times when he visited Orlando 4 more times later.
In May 2018, Deshpande was arrested in an undercover investigation led by the FBI, after receiving one anonymous tip.
