Amazon to introduce ad-supported free music streaming service

As per latest reports, Amazon has plans to introduce an all new free of cost alternative to the company’s music-streaming service as an effort to stay in line with competitors, such as Spotify. The e-commerce giant will be offering the service via its Echo smart speaker lineup and will most likely launch the service by the coming week.

Amazon initially introduced Amazon Music in the year 2016, a service which comes bundled with Amazon Prime and offers the subscribers a broader variety of songs. However, as Spotify began entering new markets and offered an add-provided free streaming model in the markets, it is not surprising to now have Amazon trying to add to its streaming offering.

The company is negotiating terms and conditions along with numerous music labels in order to offer the ad supported free tier streaming service and grow its reach.

Present Amazon music streaming subscription offerings begin at $3.99/month for single device plan. On the other hand, unlimited streaming options begin at $9.99/month for the Amazon Music unlimited service and $7.99/month for the Amazon Prime subscribers.

Notably, music lovers can enjoy free streaming option on only Spotify currently. The free version of Spotify accounts for around 120 million users. And now, Amazon is planning to go along with the add-supported free tier streaming model to have an increased user base.

Well, we will have to wait to see if its approach delivers fruitful results.
