Applying Eye Lashes is Easy if the Eyes are Prepped Well

Expert makeup artists say that applying fake lashes is easy if one knows the method around it. One cannot go putting the lashes just like that and then complain of it dropping/ removing the real eye lashes hair/ itching/ pain etc. Fake lashes can add dimension to the eyes and keep it looking fresh if the lashes are prepped for it.

Before putting the fake lashes on, apply eye shadow and eyeliner application of choice, then curl lashes and apply mascara. One should use good mascaras like the Kevyn Aucoin Beauty Eyelash Curler and Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara.

Use a tweezer, hold the lashes and dab on a thin line of best eyelash glue to the lash band with a cotton swab. Never try and squeeze the glue from the tube directly onto the lash base. Rather put a drop of glue on the middle of a Q-tip and drag the lash through it. This adds just the right amount of what is needed. It is advisable to use a dark glue as it will blend into the eyeliner better.

Makeup expert Ricky Wilson prefers using black glue as it blends right into the lashes. But it is okay too if one is using the white stuff as dries clear. The celeb makeup artist further adds that it is of utmost importance to wave the lash around for a bit after adding the glue as this lets the formula dry enough to become tacky, preventing one from getting glue all over the place. It is a game changer advice. So let the glue dry for about 30 seconds as it will make the fake lashes less likely to slide around when applied.

The false lashes’ one size doesn’t fit all. So there is a need to measure one’s lash and cut the fake lashes accordingly. Ricky says, “Lay it down above your real lashes (without glue!) and then open your eye. This will give you an idea of how the lash will sit on your unique eye shape and how much to snip away. Trimming makes them more comfortable to wear and prevents them from popping up.”
