Bharti Airtel Testing Online Version of Airtel TV Service to Take on JioCinema

Bharti Airtel, the telecom operator led by Sunil Bharti Mittal is now laying strong emphasis on offering great content lately. In a rather competitive market of telecom industry with similar data prices, offering great content is how several service providers are taking over the market.

Currently, there isn’t any competition amid the telecom operators when it comes to provisioning freebies or add-on services. However, in order to take the services up a notch, Airtel is now testing the web-based streaming service, Airtel TV. The telecom company already provides Airtel TV with video-on-demand for the subscribers. However, the company shall provide its content for the users over the web platform as well.

This new moves comes as a competition to take over the JioCinema as well as similar competing apps. In a way similar to Airtel Subscribers getting access to the Airtel TV, Reliance Jio’s JioCinema also provides its subscribers access to free content such as movies-on-demand. However, what sells about this new service by Airtel is the fact that it is available over both web as well as smartphone.

Earlier, the only possible way for streaming this service on a big screen was to use chromecast. However Airtel users now don’t need to go through these hassles.
