Cory Booker to take the Forefront with NRA in Gun Control Proposals

Cory Booker, a 2020 Democratic presidential aspirant, in a statement with a New Hampshire paper has promised to fight the NRA like never before over gun control proposals.

Booker, who had released his campaign containing more than a dozen specific gun proposals towards enacting gun control, lambasted lawmakers who only send thoughts and prayers after school shootings and do nothing to make the children and communities safer for habitation.

His comprehensive gun violence prevention plan was released after the Colorado high school shooting which left eight injured and two dead. According to him, right his first day as President, he will be proactive in closing down bad gun sales deals and round up unscrupulous gun dealers and manufacturers. He also promised to invest in communities which have been affected by gun violence. He also called on the Internal Revenue Service to investigate NRA’s tax status and determine whether there is a need to revoke its tax exemption or not.

Recently, Letitia James, the New York General Attorney, revealed her office had launched an investigation into NRA’s tax-exempt status. The investigation was launched after reports of disorderliness within the organization’s leadership.

Booker who is also a currently serving Junior Senator from New Jersey has also proposed gun owners should be licensed in a comprehensive approach including safety training and interview while subjecting current gun owners and first-time gun buyers to the federal licensing requirements.

Included in the gun control agenda of Cory Booker are conducting universal background checks for all the gun buyers, re-instituting prohibition on high-capacity firearm magazines as well as assault weapons with the modernization of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
