Many in the art world are intrigued by how a medical physician can become a sought-after sculptor whose most recent work was valued at $3.5 million. Dr. Simon Ourian is probably better known for working miracles with his syringes and laser machines to remove wrinkles and lines from the faces of the rich, the famous, and about anyone preserving their youth; now he has applied the same precision and eye for detail to his artistic creations.
Two of Ourian’s clay creations attracted a lot of attention when they were unveiled recently, and his pieces in more unconventional and contemporary materials, such as aluminum and resin, are no less intriguing. Some have pointed out that Simon Ourian is the modern day equivalent of the great artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, who also effortlessly combined mathematics and aesthetics in Mona Lisa.
In his Instagram page, videos of celebrities, influencers, and various A-Listers are displayed alongside hundreds of before and after photos, leaving none of his 3.5 Million followers in doubt as to Ourian’s skills in aesthetic medicine.
Now, Ourian has become one of the country’s rising contemporary artists. Amidst the pandemic where everyone seemed to have gained a new hobby, he has kept busy fulfilling sculpting and painting requests from various public and private art collections.
Art and medicine have always been connected, and Ourian has explained that his work as an artist is largely based on his knowledge of medicine, anatomy, and mathematics. Watching Ourian at work, whether with a syringe or a chisel in his hand, sure feels like watching one of the greatest masters of art working.
