When asked why his focus was the audience was rather unique rather than usual, he advises that “Because I saw a gap in the market and now more than ever the music/live events/concerts scene is bigger and more in demand than ever, especially with the younger generation”
Rough Patches
Shutdown’s desire to offer the “night of your life” for 14 – 17-year-olds before they are legally allowed to go out to events” has not thrived without hiccups.
One of the early problems that the brand encountered frequently was “Getting venues and councils to say yes and trust us to run an event safely without issues in and outside the venue”
Chris recounts how difficult it was to garner the trust of the parents and police institutions at first. However, after years of hard work and customers’ testimonies, this conundrum was soon resolved.
For this reason, he possesses an enigmatic problem-solving team that eliminates the possibility of any loopholes when they have to organize an event. Chris cautions that “Any issues to happen on the night which would stop these events happening all together, this is why we run such a tight ship and airport-like security on entry”

Chris defines success as “brand recognition, hearing great feedback, being able to look after my family”. His hard work has evenly paid off as far as success stories hold.
“Shutdown Events quickly made a name for themselves in Burnley and soon started to attract clientele from out of the town and further, with each event more and more people talking about it and their experience of the night. Within 6 months, they branched into a second area, their reputation continued to grow rapidly and the following 8 months saw them branch into another 4 towns/cities”
Chris complements this resounding feat by adding that “Within the first 2 years Shutdown became the UK’s largest leading U18s brand! They now tour the country every couple of months from as high up as Scotland to as far down as Newquay hosting some of the most talked about events in the UK”
