Firefly to Invest $30 Million on Advertisement on New York Taxis

The media company, Firefly, is coming up with a new advertisement method to get popular in more people. The startup will use ride hail drivers’ taxis for advertisements. And it decided to invest $30 million on ads. After executing this idea in other locations, Firefly will launch this idea for the first time in New York City. New York City is the best location to use taxis for advertisement because the city has an extensive taxi network.

Earlier the startup operated in San Francisco and Los Angles, where it worked with different taxi operators. In these locations, the company had used digital smart screens to convey the advertisement message to the public. Firefly has been advertising for other companies such as Brex, Segment, Caviar, and Zumper.

It is about to launch the advertisement method on New York City taxis. It will be beneficial for both, startup and taxi drivers. The company will pay an average of $300 per month to each taxi driver, which will be helpful for them to add extra in their earning. Monroe Long Distance Taxi Service has a wide taxi network; it operates on several locations of the city. And advertisements on such long distances taxi services will prove much more profitable for the taxi companies.

Co-founder and CEO, Kaan Gunay, said, “This will allow Firefly to start working with traditional taxis in a big way. It’s essentially locking in the largest taxi advertising contract, partnering with the largest taxi trade organization in the United States.”
