GOP Rep. Justin Amash accuses President Trump of Obstruction and Impeachable Conduct

Representative Justin Amash shared a differing opinion with his fellow Republicans on Saturday when he claimed that the Special Counsel Robert Mueller report on the Russian election meddling shows evidence of President Trump engaging in conducts which can lead to his impeachment.  He accused Attorney General, William Barr, of intentionally misinterpreting the report by not emphasizing the obvious evidence of obstruction displayed by the President.

For several weeks now, Barr has been criticized for allegedly shielding the president using congressional testimony and the Mueller report summary which he summarized. Although no part of the report concluded that the President obstructed or conspired with the Russians, the findings in the document have sparked democratic investigations with quite several people calling for his impeachment.

Amash who supported the impeachment motion, said it was appropriate even when there is no probable cause or a formal indictment. He also referred to high crimes and misdemeanors as the constitutional language related to impeachment, which he claimed implies that the Congress can consider removing him for violation of public trust.

In response, Ronna McDaniel, who is the Republican National committee chairperson, accused Amash of talking form a selfish point of view. According to to her statement, the only category focused on him is Democrats who are hoping to defeat the president in the upcoming presidential election.

Before Amash concluded the twitter thread via which he heard her opinion, he lamented the hypocrisy and inaction with which the Mueller report was handled by the Congress. He claimed only a few members actually read the report.
