Guillermo del Toro, The Mexican Filmmaker Winner of the Oscar for His Animations, now with Pinocchio / Olmo Cuarón: A Whole Legacy to Build

Guillermo del Toro is one of the most acclaimed Latin American filmmakers of our time. 

His is from Guadalajara, Mexico, and throughout his professional career he has earned himself a golden seat in Hollywood. 

He is undoubtedly an acclaimed director, producer, novelist, and screenwriter in Mexico, as well as internationally. 

Guillermo del Toro has produced and directed masterful works. He is a great icon of the industry of the Seventh Art, to such a degree that he has been awarded with a Golden Globe, a Goya Award and an Oscar for his film “The Shape of Water”.  

Recently, Pinocchio premiered in Netflix and the reception for this animated film has been fantastic.  

This time, Guillermo del Toro invites us to travel in time with this Disney classic. 

However, this animated film about the famous wooden boy that we all know is totally new, as never seen before. 

Many believe that Pinocchio will be nominated for next year’s Academy Awards, and that Guillermo del Toro has a good chance to take home another golden statuette.  

Guillermo del Toro has made history in Mexico in the filmmaking industry. As a matter of fact, he is co-founder of the Guadalajara Film Festival. 

Throughout his career he has made many films, including adaptations of comics and historical fantasy and horror films. 

The Devil’s Backbone, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water and now Pinocchio are some of the films that have Guillermos del Toro’s hallmark.

Another Mexican filmmaker that has given much to talk about is Alfonso Cuarón.  

This renowned film director has won two Academy Awards after directing Gravity and Roma. 

 

Without a doubt, he is one of the most brilliant filmmakers of his generation and one of the expert minds of the entertainment industry in Latin America.  

His professional career has been filled with success, as his colleague, Guillermo del Toro.  

Olmo Cuarón Animations

Olmo Cuarón is not far behind. Because he is Alfonso Cuarón’s son, it is understandable that he has an innate talent for animation. 

The quality of Olmo Cuarón’s animations is indescribable.  Many people believe he will follow into his father’s and Guillermo del Toro’s footsteps. 

Specifically, del Toro believes that animation is not only a genre, but filmmaking in itself, which is very interesting and valuable.
