Helena Sheds Light on Life as an Unsigned Artist

Helena is young and very talented, but she asserts that life as an independent music artist can be challenging. The artist is just shy of the drinking age, but she is sure that she is strong enough to never let her adversaries weigh her down. Helena admits that one of the most difficult parts of her musical journey thus far has been finding her true self as an artist. Considering that she is only 20, it is possible that Helena was in the process of finding more than her artistic identity, but her actual identity as well during this time. Regardless, Helena does not complain about the hardships she has experienced because they have molded her into the artist she is today (and the artist she is in the process of one day becoming).

Helena also addresses some of the injustices that she faces in the music industry as a female artist. She notices that men often times try to take advantage of her because she is young and attractive. Helena insists that she does not want to receive opportunities solely based on her appearance, but she wants to earn every single career accomplishment with hard work. She understands that rejection in the music industry is tough but should be expected. Helena is motivated and finds pleasure in the fact that for every time she was rejected in the music industry she was soon connected with multiple other solid opportunities.

Most people across the globe have been drastically affected by covid-19, some positively and some negatively. Helena believes the pandemic was one of the worst scenarios that the world as a whole could have possibly experienced in 2020. Unfortunately, even Helena’s grandmother was diagnosed with covid-19; however, the pandemic has been somewhat helpful to Helena’s music career. Helena developed plans for her new EP releasing in August, “Modern Day Marilyn,” and she took the time to become more in tune with herself as an artist. Be sure to stream Helena’s new EP when it releases later this summer!
