The bridesmaids no longer need to wear the same dresses in the wedding. But this hasn’t made the decision of ‘what will the bridesmaids wear?’ easier. They (of course) cannot be in the wedding wearing just about anything. After the bride and the groom, the bridesmaids are few of the people who are most photographed in a wedding so they definitely need to be dressed as best as possible to compliment the bride beside them.
If the brides are slim and tall then they will look great in one-shoulder bridesmaid dresses which break up the slender silhouette. Layers can be draped to the dress and there can be waist defining details like a sash or bow. Remember the photographs are mostly made from waist up thus nice details around the waist or shoulders can become highlights of the dresses. They will also help to create extra shape.
The accessories are important and should not be left to the last minute. You can make a proper plan with the bridesmaid to make sure they are on the same page about the accessories and do not turn up wearing extremely dissimilar accessories on the day, specifically the hairpins, hair ties, clutch bags, etc. It will definitely look messy in the photographs.
Choose colors from the same family so that everyone compliments each other. You can choose detailed, funky or even metallic homecoming dresses for the bridesmaids. They need to look unique and unboring in these homecoming dresses so that your wedding pictures stand out amongst all. The bridesmaids should be wearing bridesmaid dresses that flatter their body type and something that has a little element from your dress style.
