Panchkula city people have been suffering from the menace of stray dogs and cattle. It has made their life difficult to such an extent that they are now finding it scary to even walk on the city roads. As per the data available, a total of 2,839 cases related to stray animal menace have been reported in Panchkula in the first seven months of 2019. Last year, the total number of such incidents in the entire year settled at 2,819.
Every day, the civil hospital in the city has been reporting 15 new patients related to the dog bites. Not just the common people, but the influential people have been finding it really challenging to save themselves from the menace of stray dogs. In addition to this, the city dwellers are also facing problems due to the free-roaming of stray cattle in the city. The number of accident cases in Panchkula has increased significantly since the last year.
The MC has caught a total of 513 stray animals and put them in cow-sheds while carrying out its drive to make Haryana a cattle free state. But still, there are 803 stray cows in the city for which a shed with a capacity of 250 cows has been constructed in Pinjore. Due to the slow process, the state has not been able to get more sheds to take cows in them. The Haryana government raised the budget of the Haryana Gau Seva Commission over a time period of five years but still, the government has not been managed to completely solve the stray cattle problem in the state.
