President Donald Trump’s legal team slams House Democrats for investigating possible Russia probe obstruction

After a report that the House Intelligence Committee is investigating alleged obstruction by the lawyers of Donald Trump after elections of 2016, the legal team of president slammed the House Democrats. According to attorney Jay Sekulow’s representative Patrick Strawbridge, the House Intelligence Committee might be instigating a needless dispute instead of addressing necessary intelligence records.

Patrick Strawbridge’s statement was in response to a Tuesday publication where the Democrat-led indicated their investigation into whether President Trump’s lawyers helped obstruct the inquiry into Russian Election using false testimony or not. The publication referred to a series of undisclosed letters from Adam Schiff, D-Calif who was the committee’s chairman.

According to the publication, questions arose from claims made by Michael Cohen who is the President’s former lawyer and thoroughly investigated earlier this year. According to Cohen, who began his three-year prison sentence this week, the lawyers helped to edit false testimony presented to the Congress in 2017 about a Trump Tower project in Moscow.

To this effect, the committee has addressed letters to Sekulow and other lawyers representing the top attorney at the Trump Organization, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Junior. The letter sent by Schiff. D-Calif indicates their clients might have edited, shaped and reviewed the false statement submitted to the committee by Michael Cohen including the intentional omission of material facts. The letter also claimed some of the clients might have discussed possible pardons to prevent witnesses from cooperating with the committee’s request.

Schiff has made his intention clear of issuing a subpoena if the lawyers fail to cooperate with the request of the committee.
