Roger Alexander Talks Global Pandemic and Its Effect on Video Production

Roger Alexander is widely known for his directing expertise for celebrity music videos, but he also spends his time as an Executive Producer and DP. As the owner of AlphaMale Visuals,” Alexander has endured his fair share of challenges with operating during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although business decreased drastically for about a month in the spring, the pandemic has ultimately been somewhat of a blessing for business. Alexanders company is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia began re-opening for business around May, much earlier than other major film locations like LA and New York. So many clients flocked to Atlanta for productions. Alexanders video production business has consequently picked up.  Alexander feels as though this is one of the busiest times ever, because people now possess an urgency to deliver content to the masses.

Alexander is meticulous to follow all CDC guidelines and take necessary precautions while filming during this time during this time. Individuals working as crew members must wear masks at all times and have their temperatures checked twice a day; at call time and halfway through lunch. If any abnormalities are recorded, those crew members are sent home immediately. Major studios, like Tyler Perry Studios, required workers to get tested for Covid-19 about 3 times a week. Safety is of the utmost importance on our sets”, says Alexander.

However, precautions dont necessarily prevent all potential issues. Evidently, an incident arose a few weeks ago where a man was on set for one of Alexanders productions, he was asymptomatic of Covid-19. However, he was also working for Tyler Perry Studios at the same time on a different project and had to get tested. The man turned out to be positive for Covid-19, and all crew members from Rogers set had to be notified. Everyone at AlphaMale Visuals” got re-tested, and fortunately nobody contracted the virus. Even though Alexander has done everything he can to keep workers safe, sometimes things slip through the cracks.. Even if someone hasnt tested positive, Alexander urges people to stay home if they feel remotely under the weather.
