SEPSISS Metal Band, An Epitome of Purpose, Positivity & Perseverance

Surrounded by uber-talented musicians, while growing up, Melissa Wolfe was stubborn to make her name in the realm of music. Yet, little did Melissa know that she was destined to do wonders in the music industry.  Today, we joined the Founder of the only Woman fronted Metal Band, Melissa Wolfe, in a heart to heart conversation to know about her desires, aspirations, and visions for SEPSISS.

Melissa Wolfe explains that people generally perceive metal as a bit extreme genre, yet she desires to promote positivity with her idea behind SEPSISS.  “SEPSISS is all about individuals; it is all about empowering others who find themselves buried into the layers of hopelessness. I remember meeting William in Manchester when I was merely 17, and it felt like we had the same vibes, same desires, and same intention. I was just so sure about SEPSISS at that time that I never doubted its future. Maybe that is how it goes; when there is a will, there is a way,” she says.

Wolfe had always loved witnessing his father play guitar in his own band, and that is how she cultivated the wish to begin her own band one day. Yet, SEPSISS is not one mediocre metal band. It goes above and beyond to make people rejoice in the joys of music.

SEPSISS, which began as an independent band, released an EP “Badd Blood” in April of 2019 has managed to gain a Grammy nomination. Since then, the band has won the New England Music Awards for Best Heavy Metal/Hard Rock act of the year for 2019. In 2020, SEPSISS also signed a deal with Pavement Entertainment, releasing its first full-length album, “Almost 11” through them in August. With firm faith in the brilliance of positivity, SEPSISS has been able to weather the storm brought by the Pandemic on the music industry. Connecting with listeners on Facebook live and other streaming platforms, SEPSISS continued its purpose to entertain listeners, inspiring them to live a better life all through the season of Lockdown.

Talking about her work ethic during the Pandemic, Melissa says that she relishes the calm and comfort of working from home. Still, there is nothing like the feel and quality of a professional studio environment. “Something about being there just puts your mind where it really needs to be and fills you with enthusiasm to the brim. Yet, I am glad that SEPSISS, being focused on its purpose, continued its passion of music regardless of all the barriers that pandemic placed in our way,” she says.

Melissa Wolfe further elucidates that music is something natural, and a genuine musician must never force it. “The secret to making the music that touches the strings of fans’ hearts is to make what feels right. You also have to live a little to write, and we had a lot of living to do before we felt comfortable with our sonic fingerprint. In heavy metal, we expect to hear bands expressing darkness, anger, violence, and frustration. But SEPSISS believes in hope,” she says.  “Our version of heavy metal is not the conventional metal tune. We have not designed our sound in the hope of winning over existing metal fans. We designed our sound to create NEW fans of heavy metal, period—high energy, content-rich, melodic, and aggressive. Aggressive doesn’t mean anger or hatred. We wanted to be a band that could put the sex back into heavy music or pulls you into a captivating story: no ages, no colors, no politics, no violence, just the people’s metal. If you can’t dance to it, it isn’t SEPSISS,” she concludes.
