Shortage of NCERT textbooks in Bihar leave students and parents high and dry

Apart from the strenuous admission phase, students as well as the parents are bound against an uphill task which is arrangement of books, especially the ones published by NCERT.

This year’s academic session for the capital city schools in Bihar started from April first week but the NCERT books went off from the shelves at the local book marts. As stated by the latest guidelines by CBSE or the Central Board of School Education, it is mandated for all the schools in India to implement the use of NCERT books starting from Class 6 all the way to 12th.

However, NCERT doesn’t seem to have a well prepared inventory which resulted in the acute shortage for the required books among the students. The unavailability of the NCERT books has brought the parents and the students in a difficult dilemma.

They students in need of the same have been making continuous rounds of book stores but tend to return disappointed with no sign of new lots coming in. The lack of NCERT textbooks isn’t something new. Kanak Sharma, a Baldwin Academy TGT teacher stated that the shortage of the NCERT text books come up every year and the students have to make do with sharing till the arrival of new books which makes giving homework an impossible errand for teachers.
