Want to be known as people’s representative more than just a star: Urmila Matondkar

Popular Bollywood actress of the 90s, Urmila Matondkar, who is known for her outstanding performance in hits such as ‘Judaai’ and ‘Daud,’ is presently busy contesting this year’s Lok Sabha election. However, during an interview with PTI, Matondkar said that she is not approaching politics like a star and is trying to be known to the public as a people’s representative. Well, this is indeed an incredible aspect about her.

Though doing this is not going to be an easy task for her, the actress said that she wants to build confidence among people about her as their representative rather than just a Bollywood star entering, waving and then asking for their votes.

When asked that she’s a well-known face and that Bollywood celebs can prove to be vote pullers, Matondkar said that it isn’t fair to talk about all the celebs-turned-politicians. However, she did say that the media around likes to generalise many things because this tends to make their life a bit easy.

Notably, the actress will be contesting the 2019 election from Mumbai North parliamentary constituency. Matondkar, who has continually been campaigning as well as meeting local people, says that a few major problems of the region are water scarcity, housing and sanitation which need to be taken care of.
