Showing love to one another is the way to live, especially during these times. Growing up, Roman Perez received the most support from his father who’s name was Dudo Baez.
As a kid in the 90s Roman dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player one day, but many doubted and didn’t believe in him. Most of the community and even his own family in Brooklyn in the Williamsburg area declined to even think he would make it. But these circumstances only made him stronger and with the support from his father Dudo, nothing was going to stop him from pursuing his dreams.
Years of hard trainings, paid off when Roman played 2 years of college basketball which lead to him playing professionally in the USA and overseas. His father indeed was so proud of his son. Watching his growth year after year in the asphalts of New York City’s street ball scene.
Sadly in 2014 Dudo Baez passed away at the age of 57. As heart breaking as it was for Roman, he never looked bad and worked even stronger. Remembering how much his father always believed in him, and teaching him the true meaning of never giving up. Roman continues to play professionally and loving the game each day like when he first fell in love with it.
In memory of his father, from keeps his name alive with the Dudo Baez foundation which provided inner city athletes whether youth or adults with an opportunity to follow their dreams with the game. Teaching all that with hard work, discipline, and perseverance, we can accomplish lots in life. The foundation also provides camps, clinics and tournaments for those wishing to get exposure with there skills.
Roman Perez, is using this platform to change lives and to make sure that people in the world get the chance that they probably never had in their lives to achieve there goals. Believe in yourself and never look back, is something Dudo Baez taught his son and we are pretty sure he will always take his fathers advice.
