Coach Amy Sinton is a multilingual Harvard Business School Online graduate that is passionate about supporting people and organizations in thriving and achieving their goals.
When asked about what her opinion is of what people can do when they are in a place in life, where they are not yet in the place that they want to be, but wish to head in that direction, this is what she had to say about this: “Sometimes, we all have such days in which we look at situational discomfort as something that we just want to get rid of. That we just want everything to be perfect and enjoyable. Some things should be that way indeed – enjoyable, and great. Yet if there is something that irritates and frustrates us, and we sometimes can’t quite seem to see the point of it in our lives and figure out it’s meaning. For those that are not into deep philosophical analysis, there is a way to use such a situation to have a productive, more positive outcome. That is if we shift our perspective from a negative mindset, into one where we look out for opportunity in most things that are happening in life, then we may be able to use this to our benefit. I am not referring to tragic and traumatic situations – yet those in which something may seem a little off for us, in terms of how we would actually want for something to be in a more desirable and comfortable situation. In such situations, when we want for the scenario to change in terms of reality and outcome, not just in our mindset and perception, then it is important to focus on what this can motivate and drive us to do. If you really want something to change, then you can actually create a large amount of determination inside of you, to achieve your goal, and bring about a better outcome. If not for discomfort, no one wants to change. So if we are happy with a situation, we don’t usually look to change something. This is also based a lot on our perspective, but not only. If we do however wish to change something in our lives, because it is not suiting our sort and/or long-term goals, then being determined in order to achieve this is important. Without that factor, we would not get to the part of implementing steps that would get us out of such circumstances to ones that are better, and more beneficial to our lives.”
Although positive psychology can help us shift our mindsets with the use of coaching, not everyone can afford the time or money to do so. This is why we are very grateful to coach Sinton for explaining these wonderful insights to us given her coaching experience and expertise.
