When we talk about motorcycle fashion, we’re mostly talking about helmets, jackets, boots, backpacks, and gloves.
Helmets: Helmets are one of the most important motorbike accessories. You must wear it for your safety. A helmet protects your head and absorbs shock to minimise injuries in the event of an accident.
Gloves: Motorcycle gloves protect your hands and improve your grip. They help prevent injuries by protecting your hands and wrists while riding.
Jackets: Motorcycle jackets provide both safety and comfort. A jacket with internal padding or protective plates will help minimize injuries in the event of an accident. You can also choose a jacket that is waterproof or windproof, depending on the weather conditions.
Boots: Motorcycle boots protect your feet and provide stability. Boots that go up to your ankles can provide great protection and grip.
Bags and storage: It’s also important to have a bag or storage item that can hold the items you need for a long trip or a day ride. These come in many forms, including waterproof backpacks, tank bags, side bags, and more.
Jackets and bags are also very fashion-focused for motorbikers.
When it comes to motorcycle jackets, most bikers already have a favorite brand.
These are waxed canvas jackets from brands like Barbour and Belstaff. Most of the jackets from these brands are not fully protective in terms of functionality, only windproof or partially waterproof.
However, for those of us who ride and commute to work on a daily basis, we prefer these motorcycle-inspired bags that can be used as everyday bags. After all, you can’t wear a racing suit or something.
Motorbike backpacks are also used as a replacement for a top case or side bag, to hold items that you need while driving, or personal items. You need to choose the right size and capacity for your needs.
When it comes to motorbike backpacks, it’s more important that they can be used for the purposes of a regular backpack, as you may need to carry your bag to work or out and about. This is because most motorcyclists are not racers.
One of the most prominent backpack brands with a motorcycle concept is Builford.
Builford’s Bikers Crew Backpack combines the features that motorcyclists love about motorcycle fashion, such as plenty of compartments for storing and transporting their stuff, work, and everyday life, with a classic look and durability. It’s also somewhat water-resistant due to the nature of wax canvas (but not 100% water-resistant, as is the case with products from brands like Belstaff, Barbour, and Builford).
Wax canvas has its origins in hunting, sailing, and bushcraft, where it was used to make products for use in rugged and harsh environments, so it’s tough and durable. These designs are well suited to the motorcycling environment, both functionally and fashion-wise.
Given that the majority of our riders are men in their 30s, 40s and older, and most of them are working professionals, it’s hard to find products that are both fashionable and functional enough to be considered motorcycle accessories, which is why we were so excited to see the Builford brand.
